Giacomo Puccini’s classic La boheme will be presented on the Astana Opera stage on September 29, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the theatre.
La boheme is an opera about first love, passionate youth full of joy and spirit. Puccini’s music speaks to the youth and reflects the essence of relations between a woman and a man.
Aigul Niyazova, a beautiful soprano from Kazakhstan, will perform Mimi’s part, and Saltanat Akhmetova, also from Kazakhstan, will perform as Musetta. Kazakh opera singers known for their work at the Arena di Verona, Medet Chotabayev and Sundet Baigozhyn will become poet Rodolfo and painter Marcello. Abzal Mukhitdinov will conduct Puccini’s emotionally intense opera.
The story of artists unfolds in the Latin Quarter of Paris. The opera explores complex relations between Rodolfo, a poor poet and sick Mimi and painter Marcello and his sweetheart Musetta. The first act presents an illusion of happiness and joy contrasted with cruel fate. The second act shows the harshness of life. Mimi dies of illness in poverty. Marcello and Musetta, too, fail to reach happiness together.
La boheme starts at 7:00 pm on September 19.
Tengrinews will be live-streaming the opera at its Video website.
