Singer Adam who is representing Kazakhstan at the New Wave 2013 in Jurmala, Latvia, is in the 9th place after the 1st day of the contest, Tengrinews.kz reports. In the first tour of the competition the participants performed world hits. Adam chose to perform Ain't no sunshine of Bill Welter. The jury that includes Russian composers Valeriy and Konstantin Meladze, Igor Krutoy, Igor Matvienko, Igor Nikolayev, Russian singer Valeriya, Italian pop singer Toto Cutugno and Latvian singer Laima Vaikule, gave 113 points to the performer from Kazakhstan. Roberto Kel Torres from Cuba became the leader of the first day. He got the highest number of points -- 121 -- from the jury. Georgia's Salome Qatamadze was in the second place with 120 points. And Russian band Frukty took the 3rd place by gaining 118 points. Kyrgyzstan's Aibek Bakytbekov shared the 11th place with Chingiz Mustafayev from Azerbaijan, both of them scored 109 points. Young singers will present National Hits on the second day of the contest. The winner will become known on July 28 during the gala concert. The prize pool of the New Wave is 100 thousand Euro. The winner will be awarded with 50 thousand Euro. The 2nd place holder will get 30 thousand Euro and the 3rd place prize will be awarded with 20 thousand Euro. There will also be an award from Jurmala municipal authorities, the people's choice award and MuzTV channel prize at the contest.
