Kazakhstan-made Student movie awarded in Portugal

Student movie, directed by Darezhan Omirbayev, won a Special Jury Award at the Portugal Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to KazakhFilm press-service. Student was screened as part of the official selection of the Film Festival that was held on November 9-18. Earlier film critics named Student the most recommended film of the Cannes Film Festival. The movie based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment novel was demonstrated as part of Un Certain Regard section. However, the movie didn’t get any awards at that Festival. Student was also screened at the 34th Moscow International Film Festival. The movie was demonstrated as part of out-of-competition program Russian Trace.
