Kazakhstan: Kaleidoscope of Movies Film Festival will be held in Los Angeles on August 3-9 for the second time, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Oleg Belov, Festival’s press-attaché, as saying. It was initially planned to hold the Film Festival on June 1-7, but later it was decided to put off the Festival till August. The reason was that the organizers announced a competitive selection of movies for participation in 2012 Film Festival program, however, they failed to collect even the minimal number of the participants. The organizers continue to receive applications at present. Gaukhar Nurtas, Kazakhstan producer and actress, is the organizer of the Festival in the United States. She has been working at Hollywood in partnership with Helix Films Company for ten years. For the first time the Festival was held on June 11-26, 2011, in Los Angeles Hammer Museum and Billy Wilder Theater. Turan ethnic band performed at the opening ceremony of the Festival. The American audience had a chance to see Kelin, Baksy, Shiza, Racketeer, Revenge, Father’s Land, Gift for Stalin, Nomad and Tulpan movies during the Festival. Americans called Kazakh cinema an "exotic" one. New Kazakh films made in the last five years will be in the focus of the 2012 Film Festival. Hollywood screenings could propell the makers of the films to a new level, the organizers expect.
