KazakhFilm Studios (Kazakhstan national film-making company) wishes to nominate Zhauzhurek Myn Bala (1000 Brave Boys, aka Brave) drama directed by Kazakh filmmaker Akan Satayev for the American Oscar Academy Awards, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Our goal is to get Zhauzhurek Myn Bala movie nominated for Oscar via the Golden Globe Award,” Yermek Amanshayev, director of Kazakhfilm said. Amanshayev added that Kazakhfilm is planning to hold a week of Kazakhstan-made films several days prior to the Academy Awards Ceremony in partnership with the Producers Guild of America. The Golden Globe Award representatives will come to Almaty for the VII Eurasia Film Festival that will be held on September 17-22. Zhauzhurek Myn Bala film was released in Kazakhstan on May 3, 2012. The movie earned about $2 million and became the box office leader after the first two week-ends. The movie was screened at the Film Market of the 65th Cannes Festival on May 17. Canadian Film company 108 Media purchased the movie’s international rights.
