Legendary British band Jamiroquai, one of the brightest jazz-funk and acid-jazz bands of the 90s is expected in Almaty on September 15 to congratulate Almaty on its City Day, Tengrinews.kz reports citing one of the concert’s organizers Rustam Ospanov, Jazzystan Festival’s president. According to him, the organizers have already received the official confirmation from the band. “We are negotiating the financial issues of the show and resolving legal issues at present. It was decided that the concert would take place at the international Ski Jumping Sport Complex in Almaty and timed to the City Day,” Ospanov said. “I have been thinking over the idea of arranging Jamiroquai show for two years. It happened so that the implementation of my idea blended into the plans of the Cultural Department of Almaty Akimat (city administration). The officials are going to celebrate the City Day more brightly and largely this year.” Other bands from the United States and the UK will perform before the Jamiroquai show. There is still no information on the price of the entry tickets to the concert. Besides the notorious band’s concert other events will be held in Almaty to celebrate the City Day. Outdoor Parade of Orchestras Music Festival, Almaty is My First Love Retro Festival, Almatym Zhuregimde (Songs about Almaty) Contest of Songs dedicated to Almaty and other interesting events will take place in the city.
