Kazakhstani film director Emir Baigazain has announced casting calls for his new film Nad Gorodom (Over the City), Tengrinews reports.

Baigazin has completed his second film Wounded Angel that will be released in the beginning of 2016. In his third film the Kazakhstani film director is moving away from the trilogy, exploring a complex inner world of teenagers to a melodrama set at night time. He starts filming Over the City in spring 2016.

"I have never seen a single Kazakhstani film that shows the beauty of night in Almaty. I want to create a film at night. It rains, and protagonists are hiding from the rain on the porch and cannot continue on their ways. But since the rain does not stop, they have to start talking," Baigazin wrote on the Facebook page of the film.

"The story is about only two characters. There is a young man and an older woman. They spend the whole night together. I am mostly interested with how the characters end up - with physical or spiritual intimacy. Generally, I like when strangers meet and their loneliness starts brining them closer," Baigazin said.

The new film is a romantic story about an encounter of a young man and a woman. The story progresses as the protagonists spend their nights wandering the streets and sitting in the cafes of Almaty. “I want to create the film as a confession of love to Almaty,” Baigazin said.

Over the city will be produced by companies from Germany and France.

Emir Baigazin, a young director from Kazakhstan, debuted in 2013 with Harmony Lessons. He won numerous awards for his debut film along with two awards at Berlinale. The second film won International ARTE Prize and CineLink Work-in-Progress Award in 2014 at Sarajevo before its release date.
