Soloists of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden will be performing in Kazakhstan's Almaty on March 18, Tengrinews reports.
Now, recipients of the prestigious Dance Open Award Vadim Muntagirov and Anna Tsygankova will be gracing the stage of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay in Kazakhstan.
As the chief producer of ArtClassic company Yerlan Andagulov notes, Muntagirov and Tsygankova are among the most popular ballet dancers currently.
Vadim, who became a premier at Covent Garden in 2014, already performed in Almaty. Then, paired with Yana Salenko he danced Swan Lake.
This time he is coming to Almaty with Anna Tsygankova to dance Don Quixote. Arman Urazgaliyev of Astana Opera will be conducting.
Don Quixote is a ballet originally staged in four acts and eight scenes, based on an episode taken from the famous novel Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. Spanish dreamer Don Quixote lives in a world of fantasies and illusions, but when time comes to get in touch with reality, he does not withstand the fall of his castles in the sky. The whole ballet is built on the adventures of Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza.
Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus, the ballet premiered at the Ballet of the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow on 26 December 1869. With time, the ballet was brought to the rest of the world.
This academic ballet is, in fact, quite bright for execution, leaving the actors freedom of artistic expression.
