Musical Contrasts of 20th Century concert will open on February 28 in the Astana Opera House, Tengrinews reports. The concert honors the composers of the past century representing American, European and Soviet music schools. The music lovers would enjoy the melodies of Morricone, Britten, Prokofiev and Stravinsky. Works of Kazakhstan’s Setekov and Mukhitdinov will be performed along with famous foreign composers. Clara’s Lullaby from Porgy and Bess of George Gershwin well known to the public in a blues adaptation will be presented in its iconic classical form. Almat Zhailaubaev, Elena Ganzha, Aisulu Baikenov and Bagdat Abilkhanov of the Astana Opera House will take the stage for the night to open the wonderful world of the 20th century music. Ruslan Baimurzin will be directing the Astana Opera orchestra. A music scholar Saule Mauletova noted that the music of the 20th century is quite complex due to its diversity. “The works well known to Kazakhstani audience will be presented at the concert. The concert aims to showcase the immense capacities of instruments and at the same time cultivate love for this composers. In addition, Hailey’s poems will be read during the performance,” Mauletova said. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., and the tickets cost 3,000 tenge ($16). The theater is located on Kunayev street, at the crossing with Turan Av.
