Bekmambetov's Squirrels horror trailer released

The pre-production sales trailer for Squirrels horror movie, produced by Timur Bekmambetov, hit the internet, Lenta.ru reports. The film is about a young man whose father was killed under suspicious circumstances. He returns home hoping for some logical explanation, but instead he finds his mom’s new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental damage done by the gas company. Bekmambetov is the author of the film's idea. The shootings of the film have not started yet, even the director has not yet been selected. The trailer was released as a promotional video to attract attention of potential distributors. Bekmambetov is also producing some other projects at present. In particular, he is taking part in creation of Warriors of Oz miniseries. Besides that, Bekmambetov produces a fantastic action Hardcore, based on the music video Bad Mother****r of Russian band Biting Elbows. Timur Nurbakhitovich Bekmambetov is a Kazakh director, producer and screenwriter who is working on films and commercials. He is best known for the film Night Watch (2004) and its sequel Day Watch (2006), and the American films Wanted (2008) and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012). Bekmambetov was born on June 25, 1961 in the city of Guryev that is now Kazakhstan’s city of Atyrau to Kazakh father and Russian mother.
