Bekmambetov's Apollo-18 to hit screens in September

A space thriller Apollo-18 will hit Russian screens on September 1. The movie is produced by Timur Bekmambetov and Weinstein brothers, RIA Novosti writes citing Sony Pictures Releasing. The movie is about NASA secret moon expedition which discovered alien life forms. It also contains Soviet documentaries never shown to public before. The movie’s script was written by Brian Miller who won the scripts contest held by Bekmambetov during the First Astana International Action Film Festival in 2010. Apollo-18 was directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego from Spain. He was the author of several short movies and TV projects. imdb.com estimates the budget of Apollo-18 in $5 million. Timur Bekmambetov is a Kazakh-born film-maker, producer and screenwriter. He is mostly famous for his films Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2006) made in Russia and Wanted (2008) filmed in USA. Timur Bekmambetov is also an initiator of annual Astana International Action Film Festival.
