Timur Bekmambetov’s film company will shoot a new movie The Warriors of Oz in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the film director. According to him, Bazelevs Film Company will start filming the new American movie on January 5, 2013. “The title is Warriors of Oz. It will be filmed in Almaty, at Kazakhfilm Studios (Kazakhstan national studios). I hope that it would put a start to a big international project,” Bekmambetov said. Bekmambetov, who is famous for his Night Watch and Day Watch movies added that Igor Tsay, Kazakhstan fighting scene coordinator, would become a producer of the new movie. Bekmambetov has not disclosed any named of American actors who will be starring in the new movie. Earlier Timur Bekmambetov presented his new Gentlemen of Fortune comedy. He said that in his opinion this new comedy, directed by Aleksandr Baranov and himself, is not a remake of the iconic Soviet movie, but a movie based on Soviet classical comedy that was directed by Alexandr Serov 41 years ago. Bekmambetov added that the audience will be watching the movie for another 40 years to come, until some other director decides to shoot a new screen version of Gentlemen of Fortune.
