Bekmambetov named most commercially successful filmmaker in Russia

Timur Bekmambetov has been named the most commercially successful filmmaker in Russia in the rating of top 15 filmmakers in Russia by box office earnings published by Variety Russia. Bekmambetov’s films have earned about $140 million in Russian film distribution industry. The margin between the filmmaker and his nearest rival is quite big. Fyodor Bondarchuk, who is ranked second, earned only $54 million with his films. Wanted staring Angelina Jolie is Bekmambetov’s most successful movie. Wanted collected more than $341 million all over the world. The second most profitable project of Timur Bekmambetov is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Fyodor Bondarchuk follows Bekmambetov in the ranking. His films collected $53.5 million. Sarik Andreasyan is ranked third. His eight Enjoy Movies Company’s projects made $63 million in box office earnings. Pyotr Buslov, the director who made the famous Boomer sequel and Vysotsky. Thank God I’m Alive, is ranked fourth. His films collected $45 million. Marius Waisberg is the fifth and he became famous thanks to his comedy Love in the Big City and its sequel. Dmitry Dyachenko (What Men Talk About), Anton Megerdichev (Shadow Boxing 2), Andrey Kavun (Kandahar), Oleg Fomin (The Best Movie-2) and Valery Todorovsky (Hipsters) also got into the ranking of the most successful filmmakers. Timur Nurbakhitovich Bekmambetov is a Kazakh director, producer and screenwriter who is working on films and commercials. Bekmambetov was born on June 25, 1961 in the city of Guryev that is now Kazakhstan’s city of Atyrau to Kazakh father and Russian mother.
