Baigazin's Harmony Lessons becomes best film in Slovakia

Harmony Lessons of Kazakhstan's director Emir Baigazin has been awarded with a grand prize -- the Blue Angel for Best Film -- and special prize of the city Mayor at the International Art Film Festival in Trencin, Slovakia, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhfilm press-service. The contest jury, led by famous Hungarian producer Andras Muhi, gave the director of Harmony Lessons the top honors for his outstanding aesthetical contribution to the contemporary world cinema. The festival in Trencin featured a highly artistic contest program. Heli by Amat Escalante (Best Director prize of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival), The Golden Cage by Diego Quemada-Díez (A Certain Talent award of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival) and Before Snowfall by Hisham Zaman (Best Cinematography of the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival) were among nominees for the grand prize. Georgian director Nana Ekvtimishvili and German director Simon Gross with In Bloom film shared the Blue Angel for Best Director. Actress Lika Babluani, who played the leading character of this film, was awarded with the Blue Angel for Best Female Performance. The Blue Angel for Best Male Performance was earned by actor Ercan Kesal for his impeccable portrayal of a complex dramatic character in the film Mold of Ali Aydin. The premiere of Kazakhstan movie Harmony Lessons was held in February 2013 at the Berlin Festival in Germany where Aziz Zhambakiyev won a Silver Bear for cinematography. By Aigul Aliyassova
