The winner of the script contest of the Second ASTANA International Action Film Festival was announced on July 3, Tengrinews.kz reports. The top award was given to an auditor from Almaty Bakhtiyar Kadirov, the author of Beyond One Day project. Speaking of the script, Kadirov said that it is about surviving. The action takes place in our times. A man wakes up in a new place, a new country and has to find a way to survive. And this happens every day. This is an adventurous and extreme trip. “Criteria are always subjective. This story is the most emotional. It reflects what everyone wants to see on screens. This story gives audience an opportunity to travel around the world and find themselves in different places and situations, and lets them feel what it is like being a nomad. This concept can become an interesting movie,” the jury chairman Timur Bekmambetov said about the project. 10 scripts made it into the final part of the contest. 5 of them are authored by foreigners: Moto-Psycho by Bartan Arustamov from Russia, Angry Dogs by Pall Bertino from USA, sewage by Rassel Davidson from UK and Gardens of Destruction by Tontchev brothers from Russia. “All contestants write about different things. The genres are also different: horrors, action movies, comedies, fantasy and even science-fiction. They write about everything that is of a concern for them and what they deem interesting for audience. All the movies are their ways of communicating with the audience,” Bekmambetov said. Besides Bakhtiyar Kadirov, four Kazakhstan script-writers presented their projects: Galiya Baizhanova – While Everybody at Home, Rustam Mukhit – Crossing the Line, Vitaliy Kistanov – Execution Day and Yerzhan Yessimkhanov – Territory 17.
