Kazakhstan's Astana Opera will tour the United States of America, Canada, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the theatre.

Kazakhstan's Astana Opera will tour the United States of America, Canada, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the theatre. 

The Director of Astana Opera House Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov said that the global tour was very important for Astana Opera. “We will have to show what we are capable of. We hope that our repertoire will impress the new audience and they will take interest in our theatre. We also hope to receive a worthy acclaim from critics," Mr. Mukhamedzhanov said.

The theater will start the tour by visiting America and performing its Voice of Asia concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, USA on October 27

From there Astana Opera will bring the Voice of Asia concert to Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada on October 30.

The Voice of Asia concert that Astana Opera symphony orchestra, choir and soloists will present demonstrates a wide range of Kazakh music.

The program includes Kazakh folk songs and music written by contemporary composers Akhmet Zhubanov, Latif Hamidi, Yerkegali Rakhmadiev, Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov, along with great masterpieces of Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Antonio Rossini, Jacques Offenbach, Alexander Borodin, Leonard Bernstein and Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto.

The concert will feature the best talents of the theater and Kazakhstan as a whole. Zhupar Gabdullina, the leading soloist who captivated the audience at the Mariinsky Theatre in her role of Odabella will perform a piece from Attila opera. Aigul Niyazova will perform Lauretta’s aria from Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi that premiered in the Metropolitan Opera. The favourite Kazakh soloist of the Italian audience Medet Chotabayev will perform Aidar’s aria from Abai opera, the best Kazakh opera written by Akhmet Zhubanov in the Kazakh language. Leading soloist Alfiya Karimova will perform Kunigunda’s aria from Leonard Bernstein’s Candide in English. Abzal Mukhitdinov will be conducting the concert.

On November 2 Astana Opera will perform at Bastille Opera in Paris, France.

Denis Matsuyev, Ildar Abdrazakov, Yerzhan Kulibayev, Alberto Gazale, Zhupar Gabdullina, Medet Chotabayev as well as Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra and Choir will present a concert program in Paris. The program features Sergei Rachmaninoff, Manuel de Falla’s compositions, and a concert version of Giuseppe Verdi’s Attila.

On November 4 The Best of Opera Gala Concert will take place in Antwerp, Belgium.

On November 5 The Best of Opera Gala Concert will take place at De Doelin Concert Hall in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

As part of its The Best of Opera Gala Concert, the troupe will perform the grand finale of Verdi’s Aida, Bacchanale from Camille Saint-Saens’s opera Samson and Delilah, an excerpt from Don Pasquale opera by Donizetti, and Couplets of Mephistopheles from Gounod’s opera Faust.

As for the Kazakh music, the program includes Yermek Serkebayev’s version of Estai’s Kusni Korlan and Kui-Tolgau by Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov. Russian music will be represented by Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Queen of Spades, as well as by pieces from Mussorgsky’s opera Boris Godunov.

"The program features national Kazakh and European classics, Russian music, 20th-century music and American music. For instance, Astana Opera Choir will perform the traditional Elijah Rock spiritual. (...) The troupe will present all the main musical trends, because Astana Opera сan work with all genres and musical styles," Mr. Mukhamedzhanov said.
