The Constitution Day celebrations in Almaty are going to start at 11 a.m. tomorrow, August 30, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Culture Department of Almaty city. The celebratory events will be taking place at the square in front of the Palace of the Republic (at the crossing of Dostyk and Abay streets). "The main performance will start with a theatrical introduction (the opening of the celebration featuring key attribute of Kazakhstan's sovereignty) and a congratulatory speech of Almaty city Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov," the Almaty Department of Culture reported. The Constitution Day events will include a contest of children’s drawings on pavement called Kazakhstan: My Fatherland that will starts at 11 a.m., performances of the State Wind Orchestra and well-known Kazakh pop singers. The festival of famous compositions of The Beatles will start at 8 p.m. And a fireworks show will start at 10 p.m. The Kazakhstan Constitution was adopted by the national referendum on August 30, 1995. August 30 became the Constitution Day in Kazakhstan. August 30 and 31 are bank holidays in Kazakhstan this year.
