JF Chosen music awards have kicked off in Kazakhstan. The Award is aimed at promotion of Kazakhstan musicians at international music stage, Tengrinews.kz reports. Sal Osigve I.O JEFF, a Nigerian who has been living and teaching English in Kazakhstan for the last five years, has come up with an idea of discovering music talents in Kazakhstan, Murat Muturganov, director of the award said. “He had noticed that our musicians work and release new albums only to get to somebody’s party and perform there. They don’t have a real goal. That’s why he decided to arrange an independent Award, separatly from TV channels,” Muturganov said. Besides traditional categories of the best Men’s and Women’s Singer, the best Musical Producer and the best Boys’ and Girls’ bands the Award has new original nominations such as the Best National Artist and the Best Dombrist (Dombra is a Kazakh national instrument). The Best Film Editor, The Best Sound Director, The Best Director, The Best Choreography and The Best Video nominations are awaiting for Kazakhstan cinema figures as well. The Award winners will be offered opportunities to record joint compositions with Asian, European and American singers. The SMS-voting and the voting on the official website started on April 9 and will last till July. Five finalists in each nomination will be chosen through this voting. A jury from South Korea, Nigeria and the U.S. will make a final decision. The awarding ceremony will be held on October 20. Famous international singers will perform during the Gala-show. At present the event's organizers are negotiating booking American rapper Sean Kingston, R&B singer Akon and Justin Bieber to the show.
