The Sprit of Tengri international music festival unites ethnic and progressive electronic music this year, Tengrinews reports.

Ethnic singer Chyltys Tannagasheva from Mountain Shoria, Russia will be performing with Kazakhstani DJ Nariman Issenov at the largest open-air festivals in Central Asia, organized by Tengri FM radio station and Kaspi bank.

The musicians are now rehearse together. According to Nariman Issenov this musical experiment is an exciting challenge for him. Besides, this will be the first time Issenov performs in front of a big audience - the festival is expecting at least 5000 people on each of its two days. “It is a big festival and it means there will be more drive from the audience,” Issenov said. He added that the collaboration with Chyltys implied “combining the incompatible” genres of music.

“She is an extraordinary artist and very original. I hope for the project to be very interesting. As a DJ I will be creating a certain musical background and giving a musical base for her performance. She will improvise. It will be a very interesting blend,” Issenov said.

This marks Issenov’s second collaboration within The Spirit of Tengri. In October 2014, the DJ worked with the multimedia music show Voices of the Fall, organized by TengriFM. At the music show, Issenov along with the master of throat singing Radik Tyulyush and Kazyna vocal band delivered a unique musical experience to the audience.

This year, the ethnic music festival extends its horizons. TRAD.ATTACK! from Estonia, Chinese artists from Hanggai and Hungarian Tilla Torok & HoldViola will perform on the stage in front of the Republic Palace (crossing on Abay and Dostyk streets) in Almaty on June 6 and 7.

The local highlight of the festival is the performance of the well-known Kazakh ethnic musician Yedil Khussainov and Satzhan Project, a Kazakh folk-jazz band.

Radik Tyulyush from Tuva, Baba Zula from Turkey, The Shin from Georgia, and Kazakhstani bands Aldaspan and Sharapat will return to The Spriti of Tengri again. Well known to Kazakhstan band Namgar this year will perform with Norwegian musicians in a project called Nordic-Namgar.

The Spirit of Tengri will take place today and tomorrow on the square in front of the Republic Palace. The beginning is at 7 p.m. on both days.

TengriFM invites everyone to an exciting open-air concert of unique contemporary ethnic music from different countries. The organizers advise to bring a jacket in case of chills. A good mood and lots of positive energy are guaranteed.
