9th International festival Operalia 2014 will gather talented ballet and opera performers from all around the world, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the Ministry of Culture.
Operalia was launched in 2005 on the eve of the day of Astana. Thanks to the festival, locals and visitors have an opportunity to experience performances of famous opera singers and ballet dances from the best theatres across the globe.
Leonardo Caimi (tenor) and Eva Mei (soprano) will perform at the festival. Alan Burabayev of the Abai Opera and Ballet Theatre in Almaty will conduct a symphonic orchestra.
Ballet dancers from Brazil Amanda Gomez and Marcus de Silva, prima ballerina of the Odessa National Teatre of Opera and Ballet Katerian Kalchenko (Ukraine), Alexey Popor of the Mariinsky Theatre, Moscow Musical Theatre (Russia), ballet dancers Valeriya Mukhanova and Dmitry Sobolev (Russia) will also perform on the Kazakhstani stage.
The guests of the festival will see premiers of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma with Erika Gaudenzi and Giacomo Luci, a Stuttragr Ballet performance with Alicia Amatriain and Jason Reilly, an Astana Opera ballet with Tair Gataulov, Aigerim Beketaeva and Erkyn Rakhmatullaev, and an Abai Opera and Ballet Theater’s premier with Gulmira Kurbanova and Farkhad Buriev.
The Festival took place on June 23 and will again take place on July 4 at 7 p.m. at Kazakhstan Central Concert Hall in Astana. On July 1, Operalia will open at Abai Opera and Ballet Theatre in Almaty.
