A Chinese company specializing in developing technologies for autonomous cars are preparing to launch its robotaxis in Abu Dhabi later this year. The company previously received the first national license in the region for the operation of autonomous vehicles on the country's roads. This has allowed the company to conduct tests and full operations with self-driving cars, making Abu Dhabi one of the first cities in the Middle East where such technologies will be available to the public.
It is reported that there is currently no information on the exact number of self-driving cars that will be involved in this project.
The launch of robotaxis in Abu Dhabi comes amid increasing trade restrictions and new legislative barriers that make it more difficult for Chinese car manufacturers to enter the US market. Recently, the US government announced new restrictions on Chinese automotive software, complicating the operation of self-driving vehicles from China in the US market.
Currently, there are no reports of robotaxi launches in other cities or countries outside of Abu Dhabi. This collaboration is expected to become an important part of the company's strategy to expand its presence on the international stage.
