As the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told us, there are currently 106 prohibited letter combinations for state registration plates (SRP) in the country.

This list includes such combinations as: AAM, BOK, CEX, FBP, HER, KAL, KOT, MAL, SOR, SOP, SOS, SEX, USA, XER, XYE, ZEK, GEY, GEI, GAY, JID, GON, GAD, CON, QUM, GOD, EBI, EPT, IIM, GOS, IIN, QAS, OON, XUI, QR, HUY, ISK, HYI, QYS, XUY, JUN, XER, BOQ, QUL, SIK, QAN, SYK, JUT, QOR, QYQ, QOI, TYQ, JOI, JMI, JYN, GAI, IBU, VOR, EBU, BOP, FUK, FAK, FUC, FAC, IOX, IOH, LOX, LOH, COX, KOX, FBR, POX, KNB, MVD, OPG, EBR, AMM, SGL, ASS, HAX, NAX, AM, IB, KZ, PK, QU, KP, UD, WX, TG, NS, CS, PV, AK, WK, JO, AQ, AO, RK, NN, BS, ST, BA, AW, AP, AE, AX.

These letter combinations are not available to both individuals and legal entities, as their pronunciation or spelling does not comply with the norms of speech culture.

In addition, there is a category of "high-demand numbers" in the country, which are distinguished by beautiful letter or digital combinations. These numbers usually arouse the greatest interest among car owners.

By the way, prices for high-demand numbers vary from 210 330 tenge to 1 051 650 tenge. The most expensive numbers include: 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 777 with the same letter designations.

The interest in such numbers is growing rapidly every year. According to the department:

25 366 SRP were issued in 2022;
29 653 SRP in 2023, which is 16 percent more;
44 273 SRP in 2024, which is 49.3 percent more than in 2023.

Thus, the volume of numbers issued has almost doubled in two years, which indicates a growing interest in personalized state numbers, despite the fact that some combinations are prohibited.

The reasons for such growth are most often rooted in the desire to stand out on the road, emphasize status, or simply get a “nice number” that is easy to remember.
