Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan’s Mazhilis has ratified a protocol amending the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on border crossing points dated December 25, 2003.
According to Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev, the document provides for a change in the operating schedule of the Kegen–Karkara road border checkpoint. The checkpoint will now operate around the clock.
“This measure will help increase border capacity, create more convenient conditions for passengers, and support tourism development,” the minister said.
Sauranbayev noted that in 2025, 11 million people and 3 million vehicles crossed the state border.
The Ministry of Transport believes the changes will contribute to the further development of transport and transit links between the two countries.
