Tengrinews.kz - The Tazhen checkpoint on the Kazakh-Uzbek border will be closed from February 1 for three months, according to the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance.

As reported by the State Revenue Committee, a full-scale modernization of 9 automobile checkpoints on the border with China, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is ongoing at customs posts located on the external border of the EAEU.

"In agreement with the Uzbek side (through an exchange of notes), in order to ensure the safety of individuals crossing the Tazhen checkpoint during the reconstruction of the post, from February 1, 2025, the crossing of individuals, as well as the passage of cars, buses and trucks up to 3.5 tons through the Tazhen (from the side of Kazakhstan) - Daut Ata (from the side of Uzbekistan) checkpoints is temporarily suspended for 3 months," the report says.

The redistribution of the flow of people and vehicles is organized through the following checkpoints located on the Kazakh-Uzbek border:

  • checkpoints "B. Konysbaeva" (RK) - "Yallama" (RU) (individuals, passenger vehicles, buses and trucks with a carrying capacity of up to 3.5 tons);
  • checkpoints "Kaplanbek" (RK) - "Zangiota" (RU) (individuals, passenger cars, buses);
  • checkpoints "Syrdaria" (RK) - "Malik" (RU), "Tselinny" (RK) - "Ok Oltin" (RU) (passenger cars, individuals);
  • railway checkpoints "Beineu" (RK) - "Karakalpakia" (RU) (movement of individuals by rail).

The committee assured that after the completion of the modernization, the infrastructure of the checkpoints will improve, all conditions will be created for comfortable border crossing by individuals and high-quality implementation of state types of control at the border of goods and vehicles.

Earlier, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have opened the border crossing points "Kaplanbek" and "Navoi," but they will operate with restrictions.
