Tengrinews.kz — Toyota is recalling older RAV4 vehicles in Kazakhstan due to a potential airbag defect, citing the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology.
The voluntary recall campaign affects certain Toyota RAV4 vehicles manufactured in 1997–1998. As part of the campaign, specialists will inspect the driver’s front airbag inflator and replace it free of charge if necessary. The recall concerns vehicles equipped with factory-installed Takata NADI inflators.
Toyota Motor Kazakhstan explained that the properties of certain inflator components may deteriorate over time. In rare cases, this could affect the proper deployment of the airbag in a crash and increase the risk of injury.
Owners of Toyota RAV4 vehicles from the specified model years are advised to check whether their vehicle is covered by the recall campaign. This can be done using the VIN on a dedicated webpage.
If the vehicle is included in the campaign, the owner should contact any authorized Toyota dealer in Kazakhstan. All work under recall campaign 20SMD-005 will be carried out free of charge at any authorized Toyota dealership in the country.
