Almaty blogger fined for traffic violations while riding e-scooter

According to police, the rider failed to stop when ordered to do so by an officer and attempted to flee. He was later detained and held administratively liable.
For violating traffic regulations, he was fined 10 monthly calculation indices (MCI), or 43,250 tenge.
The court also found him guilty of disobeying a lawful order from a police officer and imposed an additional administrative fine of 30 MCI, or 129,750 tenge.
Where you can ride without a driver's license
Police previously explained that people without a driver's license may ride e-scooters only on:
- bicycle paths,
- bicycle lanes,
- sidewalks.
They also reminded riders that speeds on sidewalks must not exceed 6 kilometers per hour.
When a driver's license is required
E-scooter riders are also permitted to travel along the right edge of the roadway.
However, in that case, they must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver's license of any category, and wear a protective helmet.
