Tengrinews.kz - A tourist from Singapore passed away while receiving a massage at a salon on Patong Beach in Phuket's Kathu district, according to The Thaiger.
The 52-year-old man reportedly experienced breathing difficulties during an “oil massage”. Staff at the salon attempted to provide first aid but were unsuccessful and called emergency services.
Paramedics arrived and transported him to a hospital, where attempts to revive him failed.
Salon employees initially claimed the man was still alive when taken away, but medical staff confirmed he had already died by the time he reached the hospital.
The deceased's wife revealed that her husband had an unhealthy lifestyle, including excessive alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, and lack of sleep, which she believes could have contributed to his death.
The exact cause will be determined through an autopsy.
This incident comes just days after a similar tragedy in Thailand involving 20-year-old singer Chayada "Phing" Praohom. The singer sought treatment for back pain at a massage salon in Udon Thani, where, after three sessions, her condition deteriorated.
"I felt pain, so I just wanted a massage, but I never expected it to be this dangerous. I lost my money to the massage and my health," she wrote in a social media post.
Complaining of aggressive treatment that left bruises, Chayada later experienced paralysis on one side of her body and was hospitalized. Despite efforts by doctors, she passed away on December 8.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the salon, revealing that only two out of seven massage therapists held valid licenses.
The case remains under investigation as officials determine whether unprofessional treatment contributed to the singer's death.
