"Ishiba won the runoff election for the first time in 30 years and was elected as the 103rd Prime Minister," the publication notes.

In the first round of elections, none of the candidates received the 233 votes needed to win. At that time, the current head of government Shigeru Ishiba had 221 votes, the representative of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan Yoshihiko Noda - 151, the head of the Democratic Party For the People Yuichiro Tamaki - 28.

In the second round, Shigeru Ishiba and Yoshihiko Noda competed for this post.

"As a result of the runoff election, Ishiba received 221 votes and Noda 160 votes, and Ishiba, who received the most votes, was elected as the 103rd Prime Minister. While the ruling party's number of seats fell below half, the opposition parties also failed to unify," the information states.

Earlier, The entire government of Japan has resigned, with the parliament preparing to vote on the candidate for the new Prime Minister.

In august, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced he would not run for re-election as head of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in the upcoming intra-party elections in September, signaling a change in Japan's Prime Minister.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his support to the Japanese people in connection with the recent earthquake in Japan and hopes that it will not lead to serious consequences.
