A mosaic exhibition made by Italian masters opened as part of ArtbatFest-2012: Beginning of the World, Tengrinews.kz reports. 10 installation works, created by Italian artists were presented in the Republic Palace building. The audience was extremely impressed by the large-scale installation called Alchemistry made by Venice artist Dusciana Bravura. The artist used a thousand of images from 19th and 20th century canvases. Bravura transferred these images on to glass and created a new composition that looks like a manufacturing enterprise that converts fabric into gold. Prominent mosaic expert Marco Bravura, the artist’s farther, said that mosaic technique hadn’t lost its applicability in spite of its antiquity. “It has changed significantly in the last 20-30 years. We’d like to show all the varieties of styles of modern mosaic technique by organizing this exhibition,” Bravura added. The artist said that it was his first visit to Kazakhstan. “What I should say? Usually we should say “thank you” during such events and express our gratitude. The thing is that we knew nothing about Kazakhstan when we were invited to take part in the exhibition. But I am here now and I am so impressed! I have looked at the city I have looked at the mountains. I’d like to tell you that I want to live here!” Bravura said. The Italian called Kazakhstan a country of miracles. He was impressed by Kazakhstan people’s openness and hospitality and also by its national cuisine. Brabura said to the organizers that he would be thrilled to visit Kazakhstan again. The mosaic exhibition will finish on June 25. Ekaterina Sisfontes’ (Sweden) photo exhibition called Stockholm Subway kicked off in Almaty subway on May 26, 2012, as part of ArtbatFest Contemporary Art Festival. The photographer presented a series of photos of subway stations designed in different modern art styles: from pop-art to graffiti. The artistic vision and creative approach have made Stockholm subway famous all over the world. The exhibition opened at Zhibek Zholy station (Gogol Str, corner of Panfilov Str.)
