Joaquin Cortes, the King of Flamenco, has invited a Kazakh ballet dancer Rafael Urazov to join his dance company, Tengrinews reports.
In April, Urazov, the leading dancer of the Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, helped organize Cortes’ concert in Almaty. The legendary dancer performed on the stage of the Republic Palace on April 11.
“As a dancer, I always dreamed of brining such an phenomenal superstar to Kazakhstan. After the concert I showed Joaquin videos of my performances on Instagram. He liked it and highly praised my work,” the dancer said.
Urazov posts videos from his training sessions on his Instagram page.
But the Kazakhstani dancer did not expect to get an invitation from Cortes.
“Certainly those are not classic ballet performances. But it is a great honor and a useful new experience for me. I am on a summer break now, but I am starting to train in the middle of August for the beginning of the theater season,” Urazov said.
Rafael Urazov graduated from Seleznyov Choreographic School in Almaty. In 2008 he started working at the Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Urazov is praised as one of the most talented young dancer of Kazakhstan.
