An exhibition of the world's only mask collection, the World Exhibition of Masks (WEOM), is taking place at the Schoolchildren's Palace of Astana, Tengrinews reports citing the official website of the city. The exhibition features 371 masks from all over the world, gathered by a private collector. "We arranged the event to raise the awareness of the history and culture of many countries. A lot of people of different nationalities will arrive to Astana during the EXPO-2017 from various countries. That is why we want Kazakhstan people to see the history of all these countries first. It will help educate young people, promote cultural values and tolerance towards other inter nationalities," Johan Flyer Director General of the project, said. He added that the collection was one of a kind in the world. It included pieces of arts from Venice, China, Italy, Western Africa, India and many other countries. According to the organisers, the exhibition has started its global tour in Astana and then will continue to large cities of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, China, Germany, France, Italy and the United States. The exhibition opened on March 1 and will continue until March 14, 2014 in the Schoolchildren's Palace, located at #5 Momyshuly Ave. The ticket costs 200 tenge ($1.1)
