Leading dancers of Astana Opera Aigerim Beketayeva and Yerkin Rakhmatullaev have been invited to perform in La Scala theatre in Milan during the EXPO-2015 that will be held in Milan, Tengrinews reports.

“Milan will host the EXPO-2015. Our duo Aigerim Beketayeva and Yerkin Rakhmatullaev have been invited to perform on the stage of La Scala theatre at the gala concert on October 30-31, 2015.

This summer Director of La Scala ballet company Makhir Vaziyev was there (in Astana) and saw the rehearsal of Swan Lake. Then, he invited this pair. They will dance pure classics,” director of Astana Opera ballet company Tursynbek Nurkaliyev said during the press conference.

Kazakh soloists will dance a pas de deux from the third act of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake and a pas de deux from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty.

Makhar Vaziyev came to Kazakhstan's capital city Astana with his ballet troupe this summer to stage the Don Quixote that was the first premier of the ballet in Astana Opera.

In addition, Tursynbek Nurkaliyev reminded that Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker staged by the outstanding choreographer Yuri Grigorovich will premier today at 19:00 in the Astana Opera. The ballet will be repeated on December 27, 28, 30 and 31.

The Nutcracker, in Yuri Grigorovich's production with charming sets and costumes by the genius Simon Virsaladze, Tchaikovsky's renowned score, and the stunning dancers of the Astana Opera creates an aesthetically, emotionally, and musically perfect ballet.

The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (op. 71). The libretto is adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. It was given its première at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in 1892.

The Nutcracker has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960s and is now performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in the U.S. Major American ballet companies generate around 40 percent of their annual ticket revenues from performances of The Nutcracker.

Tickets to the Astana Opera ballet can be purchased online on biletbar.kz. Price for tickets starts at 500 tenge ($2.7).

Grigorovich's Nutcracker will be streamed live on TengrinewsTV today, December 25 and on December 27.
