Astana Opera’s lead ballerina Aigerim Beketova has been invited to preform in Budapest and London with Boris Eifman’s troupe, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the theater.
Aigerim Beketova is an alumnus of Seleznev’s Choreographic Academy in Almaty. The dancer won a number of international ballet competitions.
The founder of the Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg was impressed with Beketova’s performance of The Dying Swan at the Mariinsky Theatre during Astana Opera’s tour.
Eifman is familiar with the Astana Opera and its dancers - he worked with dancers from the Astana Opera on Rodin ballet. Aigerim Beketova performed Camille Claudel’s part. The young dancer will perform the same role on European stages.
The ballerina admitted that she discovered the Eifman genre for herself and was working on perfecting her knowledge of it.
“I have read a lot of books and watched a film about my heroine to be able to show her emotions and feelings better. There has been a great lot of work done. Those who performed this role before me had visited a psychiatric clinic to feel the atmosphere and present it on stage,” Beketova said.
