During his working visit to Vietnam, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rapil Zhoshybayev met with Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Huynh Vinh Ai, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son as well as with the heads of the leading Vietnamese companies.

According to Vu Duc Dam, the exchange of mutual visits at various levels contributed to the development of bilateral ties of Kazakhstan and Vietnam.

Besides, he officially declared Vietnam’s decision to take part in the EXPO-2017 in Kazakhstan's Astana.

The two sides also discussed implementation of joint projects in the tourism, a possibility of opening a direct flight between the capitals of the two nations, and way of promoting Kazakhstan as a tourist destination for the Vietnamese.

They also marked the high popularity of Vietnam as a tourist destination among the Kazakhstanis.

The Vietnamese officials also announced the country’s plans to introduce visa free travel for Kazakhstan citizens in the light of signing of a free trade deal between the Eurasian Economic Union of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia and Vietnam. The deal was singed on May 29, 2015 and envisages slashing and complete scraping of some of the customs duties between Vietnam and the member-countries.
