A range of agreements totally worth around $1 billion were signed during Kazakhstan-Turkish business forum, Tengrinews.kz reports. 15 signed documents include an agreement on joint production of military vehicles and cross-country cars and their maintenance in Kazakhstan between Kazakhstan Engineering and Otocar (Turkey). Alma Pharm and Abdi Ibragim signed an agreement to open a pharmaceutic plant in Almaty oblast. AgroMashHolding and KZK AVTO plan to produce ambulance cars, garbage collectors and crop-collecting machines. Kassanov Investment Group is going to build a mall in Almaty together with Turkish Turkmall Real Estate. The forum’s closing ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Turkish Prime-Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Kazakhstan President noted that the country was interested in expansion of participation of foreign business in its economic development. “We have formed a stable investment climate during the independence years. In this period $166 billion of direct investments were attracted from abroad. This is one of the factors that have influenced the dynamic growth of our economy,” President said. Nazarbayev added that 80 percent of all foreign investments in Central Asia fell on Kazakhstan. He noted that 443 projects worth $11 billion were implemented in 2.5 years of the industrialization program in Kazakhstan; around 100 thousand jobs were created. Erdogan said that Turkey attributes a high importance to the work of Turkish companies in Kazakhstan that cover construction, pharmaceutics and FMCG sectors. “Our construction companies invested significant funds in Kazakhstan. Turkish investments will be diversified and will be spreading into other sectors of the economy: pharmaceutics, agriculture, mining, etc. Kazakhstan business is currently investing in tourism and we should enhance cooperation in this direction,” Prime-Minister said. On the same day Nazarbayev took part in the flag-hoisting ceremony of the Turkic Council. The President emphasized the significant results reached during the 20 years of cooperation of the Turkic-speaking countries.
