Kazakhstan and Finland join green economy efforts

Kazakhstan and Finland will sign an Action Plan on cooperation in green economy, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Ministry of Environmental Protection. According to the Ministry, Kazakhstan Environmental Protection Minister Nurlan Kapparov visited Finland on March 13-14. During the visit the parties agreed to start preparation for signing the joint action plan on cooperation in green economy. The Minister was accompanied by a delegation of Kazakhstan businessmen interested in development of cooperation in green technologies with Finnish companies. During the visit Nurlan Kapparov met with head of the Cabinet Teemu Tanner, co-chairman of the Interstate Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb and Minister of Environmental Protection Ville Niinistö. “During the meetings with Finnish administration Minister Kapparov discussed current issues of the bilateral trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the coming state visit of Finland’s President Sauli Niinisto to Kazakhstan in April 2013, as well as joint projects on development green economy in Kazakhstan, introduction of clean and energy-efficient technologies,” the press-service writes. Besides, the visit included participation of Minister Kapparov and Stubb in the business forum on green economy that presented modern water-saving technologies, advanced energy-efficient solutions in engineering, metal-processing and mining industry and construction. The event was attended by over 50 Finnish and Kazakhstan companies working in cleantech. Nurlan Kapparov told about the course of development of the strategy of Kazakhstan’s transition to green economy and the Green Bridge initiative and invited Finnish companies to participate in implementation of the projects for the EXPO-2017 in Astana.
