Kazakhstan’s cyclist and 2012 London Olympic champion Alexandre Vinokourov has been enrolled into Gumilyov Astana Eurasian National University and will do a Master’s Decree in Physical Education, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to Yerlan Sadykov, rector of the University.
According to the rector, this is “the second victory” of the Kazakhstan's prominent athlete. “The fact that the legendary Olympic winner and Kazakhstan’s cyclist Alexandre Vinokourov will be taking a Master course in one of the most prestigious University of the country will become a bright example for our future students.
Sadykov is expecting that Vinokourov will boost the University's Physical Education Department through his sports knowledge and experience. According to Kazpravda.kz Vinokourov’s professional career as a cyclist “has smoothly transformed into a career of a coach and this could be very beneficial for Kazakhstan's sport.”
One more Olympic champion, Kazakhstan’s weightlifter Ilya Ilyin is going to do his postgraduate course in one of Kazakhstan universities. He is going to do a PhD course in Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism.
