“Kazakhstan is ready to host the 2022 winter Olympic Games”, Interfax – Kazakhstan
quoted Minister of Sports Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov as saying.
According to the minister, Kazakhstan has all conditions in place to host the games. Should the Olympic Committee insist on conducting the Games in just one city (Almaty), only a bobsleigh track, an Olympic village and a speedskating facility have to be built [early this year Kazakhstan hosted the Asian Winter Games in its two cities – Almaty and Astana].
Earlier Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), had noted that Kazakhstan was ready to host the Games.
Kazakhstan intends to bid for the 2022 winter Olympic Games in 2017.
