The team of Kazakhstani scientists working in Kalachi village on the mysterious sleep syndrome has published their preliminary statement, Tengrinews reports citing KTK TV channel. The researches came to a conclusion that the sleep syndrome that brought more than 30 people to hospital is not an airborne infection. Even though the exact reason has not been determined yet, the scientists think that radon gas discovered in the air in small amounts might be the cause of the sleep syndrome. “Central nervous system virus infections, bacterial and radiation diseases have been excluded from the list of the possible illnesses. We are still working and I think we will be able to come to a conclusion some time after the 20th of March, ” Dr. Rosa Abzalova said. In January 2014 more people were admitted to the local clinic with symptoms similar to those that the other 30 patients from Kalachi village had had.
