Kazakh bank makes it to Forbes Global 2015

Forbes has published its annual list of the World's Largest Companies. The ranking takes into account indicators like revenues, profits, assets and market value, weighing them equally into a composite score. This year's list includes companies from 61 countries, including Kazakhstan.

One company from Kazakhstan entered the list in 2015.

Halyk Bank, a Kazakh bank, occupies the 1608th place in the Forbes Global 2015. Sales of the bank, according to Forbes, were $1.7 billion, profits - $637 million, assets - $15.4 billion, market capitalization as of May 2015 - $2.1 billion.

The bank was founded in 1923 and is headquartered in Almaty. The CEO of the company is Umut Shayakhmetova. More information about the bank can be found on its website.

Halyk Bank’s primary business comprises attracting deposits, trading in securities and foreign currencies, cash and credit card operations, provision of loans and guarantees.

The four leading companies in the list are Chinese banks: ICBC, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China and Bank of China. Fifth position on the list is occupied by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway. The other half of the largest ten are JPMorgan Chase, Exxon Mobil, PetroChina, General Electric and Wells Fargo.
