Institute of Democracy announces exit polls results

According to exit poll carried out by Institute of Democracy Research Association, the incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev gained 95.1% of the votes. This was announced today by the Association’s Director Ms. Yulia Kuchinskaya, Bnews.kz reports. “Most respondents - 95.1% - said that they had voted for the incumbent President”, Ms. Kuchinskaya said. According to her, Gani Kassymov gained 2.1% of the votes, followed by Mels Eleusizov with 1.5%. Zhambyl Akhmetbekov gained the other 1.3%. “Voter turnout stands at 90.5%”, she said. The exit poll covered 50 000 voters in 14 country’s regions, as well as in Astana and Almaty. The exit poll was carried out at 333 polling stations: 193 urban stations and 140 rural stations.
