CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) observers tagged Kazakhstan presidential elections democratic, reports citing Kazakhstan President's Administration.

Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Sergei Lebedev, CIS Executive commission chairman, in Astana today.

Sergei Lebedev told Nursultan Nazarbayev about the results of the work of the CIS observers mission during the April 3 elections. The mission included 426 representatives of 9 CIS countries.

“In general we have a very positive impression from the preparation process and the elections. The elections were well organized at all levels, from the Central Election Commission to the election commissions at the polling stations,” the president's press-service reported citing Sergei Lebedev.

“The elections were transparent, democratic and enabled the citizens to execute their right to freely express their will," Sergei Lebedev told a briefing.

Nursultan Nazarbayev won the elections with 95.5 percent of the votes cast, according to the Central Election Commission.
