Japanese football player scored a goal from 58.6 meters

Defender of Fagiano Okayama Ryujiro Ueda in the Japanese J-League scored a goal into the gates of Yokohama FC. The only goal of the match came in the 69th minute after a goal-kick from Yokohama goalkeeper Kentaro Seki. Ryujiro Ueda ran to the left side beyond the centre-line to clear with a header. The ball bounced once several metres outside of the penalty box and flew above Seki.

"After I cleared the ball I was focused on getting back to my position. I didn't notice until after it had gone in," a new record holder said.

After the match the distance from Ueda's position to the goal was measured and turned out to be 58.6 meters. The previous record belongs to Norwegian player, who scored the goal from 57.3 meters.
