Wrestling: Manyurova wins gold at Asian Championship

Wrestler Gyuzel Manyurova, London Olympics bronze prizewinner from Kazakhstan, has won a gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championship held in Astana on April 23-27, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.


Wrestler Gyuzel Manyurova, London Olympics bronze prizewinner from Kazakhstan, has won a gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championship held in Astana on April 23-27, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Gyuzel Manyurova competed in the 75 kg weight category. In the first round, she won over Gulmira Ismatova from Uzbekistan. In the second round she overcame Indian Jyoti. And in the final match of the Championship, she defeated Chinese Zhou Feng. Thus, it is the fourth gold in the continental championship for the Kazakhstani athlete. Previously, she won in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The Kazakhstan women’s wrestling team won a total of two gold and three bronze medals.

Tatyana Amanzhol won gold for Kazakhstan on the first day of the champtionship, then Yekaterina Larionova, Aiym Abdildina and Elmira Syzdykova became bronze prizewinners on the second day. And then came Gyuzel Manyurova with her final gold on April 26. 

Japan won the championship by medal count with 3 gold medals, followed by China and Kazakhstan. 

Gyuzel Manyurova is the chief coach of the Kazakhstani women's team. She won a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and then won a bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics.
