Volleyball club Almaty missed spot in Worlds by one step

Kazakhstan volleyball club Almaty took the second place at the men’s Asian Volleyball Club Championship in Indonesia after losing to Iranian Paykan 0:3 (16:25, 15:25, 19:25) in the final, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the press-service of Kazakhstan Volleyball Federation.

At the pool stage club Almaty had five victories and 1 defeat. It lost against Iran. During play off the Kazakh club gained two more victories by defeating Vietnam and Japan .

The final match took place in the Sriwijaya Sports Hall in Palembang, Indonesia. By winning the finals Paykan won a spot in the FIVB Men’s Club World Volleyball Championship to be held in Doha, Qatar in October 8-14.

This is not the first or even the second time that Iranian Paykan wins this Championship. This year is their sixth time in a row.
