Tennis: Shvedova lost 11 lines in WTA ranking after Wimbledon

Kazakhstan tennis professional Yaroslava Shvedova lost 11 lines in the WTA tennis ranking after the Wimbledon championship, Vesti.kz reports. Shvedova reached the second round of the Wimbledon, but then she withdrew from the tournament. She was supposed to play against Petra Kvetova from the Czech Republic. As a result, Kazakhstan's No.1 tennis professional went down to the 66th place. Other Kazakhstan tennis players Galina Voskoboyeva and Yuliya Putintseva, who failed to reach the second round of Wimbledon, moved down 3 lines, and now they are 91th and 93th in the ranking. Sesil Karatantcheva also moved down from the 128th place to the 132th place after her failure at the tournament. The winner of the Wimbledon French Marion Bartoli advanced from 15th place to 7th in the WTA ranking, repeating her best career achievement. The finalist of the tournament Germany's Sabine Lisicki moved from the 24th to the 18th place. Russian Maria Sharapova, in spite her drop out from the Wimbledon's second round, retained the 2nd line, displacing Victoria Azarenka from Belarus. Another Russian tennis player Maria Kirilenko (12th place) left the WTA Top Ten after her loss at the tournament in London. American Serena Williams is a leader of the WTA ranking.
