Kazakhstan national rhythmic gymnastics junior team (girls born in 1999-2000) returned from Japan city of Fukuoka with a set of silver medals, Vesti.kz reports. 20 teams from four countries participated in the tournament that was held in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Meruert Balginbayeva, senior coach, who accompanied the girls to the tournament, said that the event was held during five days. Teams from Japan, Bulgaria, South Korea and Kazakhstan participated in the tournament.

According to the coach, Kazakhstan rhythmic gymnasts didn’t get lost in this respectable company. They became second after the qualifying round and upheld the high level of their performance in the finals of the tournament. Only Bulgarian athletes performed better than Kazakhstan’s team. One of the host country’s teams was ranked third.

“These girls, who recently performed in the group tournament of Kazakhstan Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, represented Kazakhstan in Japan. Our team consisted of Victoria Guslyakova, Nuray Kumarova, Diana Dauletova, Adel Baktybayeva and Kristina Zelenova,” Meruart Balginbayeva added.

According to her, Kazakhstan national team performed hoop events. The team was formed after the girls participated in the national Junior Championship where they showed excellent results. The coach said that the girls were planning to join the main national rhythmic gymnastics squad later and perform at the Olympic Games.
