Sweden team defended without errors and successfully used their own goal chances. As a result the first half of the match finished with the score of 5:0. Kazakhstan team managed to hit the Sweden gates once in the second half of the match. Sweden players replied with four goals soon.

Earlier Kazakhstan won two matches in the tournament, by gaining a victory over Norway and the USA. As a result the national team coached by Alexey Nikishov secured a place in semi-finals of the Championship.

On February 1, Kazakhstan team played against Russia, but also failed to win.

“Kazakhstan players are stronger than Finland players and they play at home. Kazakhstan gathered the strongest team while participating in world championships,” Pavel Ryazantsev, Russian team's hockey player said before the match.
