Olympics: Kazakhstan was ranked 6th by medal count after 4th day

Kazakhstan Olympic team gained two lines in the medal count on the fourth day of the London Olympics-2012 and was ranked 6th, Vesti.kz reports.

Weight-lifter Maiya Maneza brought the third gold medal Kazakhstan by winning in the -63kg category and setting an new Olympic record of 245kg.

Boxers Birzhan Zhakipov (-49kg) and Daniyar Yeleussinov (-64kg) got into 1/8 of the Olympic final. Zhakipov won 18:17 over Jeremy Beccu from France and Yeleussinov won 19:9 over American Jamel Herring.

Tennis player Yaroslava Shvedova failed to get into the third round losing 6:4, 3:6, 5:7 to Sabine Lisicki from Germany. Kazakhstan men’s water polo team lost 4:7 to Australia in the second game. Judoka Islam Bozbayev lost to Ole Bischof in -81kg category and thus did not get into the quarterfinal.

Vladislav Yakovlev, who failed to get to the quarterfinal of Olympic rowing competition, made it to the final of repechages.

After the fourth day China still led the medal count with the total of 13 gold medals. It was followed by the U.S. (9 gold medals) and France (4 gold medals).
