Kazaksha Kures may become part of 2014 Asian Games

Kazakh national combat sport Kazaksha Kures (Kazakh wrestling) may be included into the program of the Asian Games 2014 to be held from September 19 to October 4 in Incheon, South Korea, Vesti.kz reports. According to Serik Tukeyev, President of the World Kazaksha Kures Federation, the tournament will become a stage for combat sport to subsequently enter the Olympic family. With due support of the Kazakhstan Agency of Sports and Physical Culture the combat sport may be represented at the Asian Games as soon as in 2014. "We have systematized the rules of the bouts and clearly specified the equipment and teams. All the terms used in the sport are in Kazakh. We have complied with the international requirements in terms of preparations and organization," he said. But it still takes Kazaksha Kures to have at least 63 national federations in order to become an Olympics sport. "We have already 30 federations. We working on making the sport more popular," Tukeyev added. Another requirement that the sport is yet to meet is that women's completions are held as well as men's. Kazaksha Kures is an ancient Kazakh martial art. Traditional Kazaksha Kures is a spectacular sport and is popular in modern Kazakhstan. The sport is somewhat similar to other types of wrestling, but has some special rules. It requires very high endurance and power.
